Your agency has asked for access to Wix. You don't need to share your password for it. Wix lets you add them with their own login, choose exactly what they can do, and remove them when the project ends. These are the clicks, checked against Wix's own help pages in November 2026.
Which role to choose
Pick the narrowest role that lets your agency do the work. Website Manager is usually the right one.
| Role | What it allows | For an agency |
|---|---|---|
| Website Manager | Manages, edits and publishes the site. No billing, and cannot delete, duplicate or transfer it. | Usually the right one |
| Website Designer | Edits the site and manages settings and apps. No access to Inbox, contacts or other sensitive info. | If the work needs it |
| Admin (Co-Owner) | Full access, including billing, subscriptions and inviting people. Cannot delete or transfer the site, or connect a domain. | If the work needs it |
| Marketing Manager | Manages all marketing tools, contacts and automations, and views site analytics. | If the work needs it |
Add your agency to Wix
Open Roles & Permissions If Wix asks you to select a site, choose your site and click Manage this Site.
- In the dashboard for your site, click Settings, then Roles & Permissions.
- Click Invite Collaborators. If it opens a menu, choose to invite people by email.
- Under Email addresses, enter your agency's email address.
- Under Select roles, tick Website Manager. Typing it into Search roles finds it quickly.
- Click Send Invite.
Each collaborator takes one of your site's seats: a free site has 1, and paid plans have 2 or more. Only the owner or someone with the Invite People permission can invite.
How you both know it worked
Wix emails your agency an invitation from wix.com. Once they accept it, they show in your Wix account's list of people with access, where you can see or change their role at any time.
Remove access when the project ends
- In the dashboard for your site, click Settings, then Roles & Permissions.
- Find your agency's email address under Collaborators and click the More Actions icon in its row.
- Click Remove collaborator, then Remove to confirm.
Do you have to share your password?
No. Every step above uses Wix's own invite, so your agency signs in with their own account, your two-step verification stays on, and anything they change is recorded under their name. How to give a developer access without sharing your password covers the other accounts agencies usually ask for.
Doing this for every client?
Agencies can send each client one GetSetKeys link instead of a page like this. It walks the client through Wix and the other platforms the project needs, and checks that each step is done.
