Your agency has asked for access to Meta Business. You don't need to share your password for it. Meta Business lets you add them with their own login, choose exactly what they can do, and remove them when the project ends. These are the clicks, checked against Meta Business's own help pages in October 2026.
Which role to choose
Pick the narrowest role that lets your agency do the work. Partial access is usually the right one.
| Role | What it allows | For an agency |
|---|---|---|
| Partial access | Only the tasks you turn on for each asset, such as creating content, managing ads or answering messages. | Usually the right one |
| Full control | Manages everything about the assets you share, but cannot share them with another business. | If the work needs it |
Add your agency to Meta Business
- In Meta Business Suite, open Settings for your business portfolio. Under Users, click Partners.
- Click Add, then choose to give a partner access to your assets.
- Enter your agency's business portfolio ID and click Next.
- Choose the assets your agency needs, such as Pages, ad accounts, datasets and Instagram accounts. For each one, choose Partial access. With Partial access, turn on only the tasks your agency needs.
- Click Assign assets.
Only people with full control of your business portfolio see Partners, and someone else with full control may need to approve the share. This step is not confirmed by an invite email: your agency confirms it once the assets show in its business portfolio.
How you both know it worked
Your agency sees the assets you shared in its own business portfolio's settings, and you see your agency under Partners, where you can change or remove its access at any time.
Remove access when the project ends
- In Meta Business Suite, open Settings, then Partners under Users.
- Select your agency's business portfolio, click Remove and confirm.
Do you have to share your password?
No. Every step above uses Meta Business's own invite, so your agency signs in with their own account, your two-step verification stays on, and anything they change is recorded under their name. How to give a developer access without sharing your password covers the other accounts agencies usually ask for.
Doing this for every client?
Agencies can send each client one Get Set Keys link instead of a page like this. It walks the client through Meta Business and the other platforms the project needs, and checks that each step is done.
